A number of our wire ropes can be specified with a fibre core or an
independent wire rope core. This is the case for our 18mm 6x36 stainless steel wire rope, letting you decide
between flexibility and sheer strength.
The steel core gets a higher working load limit of 18,460kg which compares favourably to the 17,112kg capacity of its fibre counterpart. It also delivers a greater breaking force of 181kN, which could be significant if you have a particularly rigorous lifting task lined up.
Since the six outer bundles of 36 wire strands are made from stainless steel, the rope will not corrode in wet weather or sea air, regardless of the core beneath.
